Based on the earlier 1970s beaver symbol, the Parks Canada logo is made up of stylized beaver, positioned above a log, surrounded by a circular line.
Three versions of the updated beaver symbol were created. The initial version contained elements along its back to represent fur; it was replaced by a refined version, with a smooth back and crosshatching its the tail.
A simplified third version of the beaver symbol was also created for use in Parks Canada signage applications.
